Chemical Resistant Epoxy Flooring – Floor Skinz
IS ONE EPOXY AS GOOD AS ANOTHER?
Not all epoxies are created equal. 99% of epoxy floor systems are not acid or chemical resistant. We work closely with over 10 resin manufacturers, of which each have full time chemists working to make sure they have the right floor systems available for every situation that may come up. Why do we work with so many companies? The reason is because we do not ever want to be without a solution for our clients.
WHAT IS THE BEST SYSTEM?
As for the best acid resistant flooring, the best system would start with grinding the concrete slab, which would open up the pores. This gives us a nice profile to work with. Then vacuum and apply a ⅛ inch novalac epoxy slurry with a 100% sand broadcast. The final step would then be applying 2 top coats of novalac epoxy. This system should give years of protection to even the harshest acidic environments.
IS THERE A MORE BUDGET FRIENDLY OPTION?
YES! If the budget does not allow for this cadillac system, grinding and applying 2 coats of novalac should get the job done. Just remember all resins are not created equal… Knowing the acidity limits of the novalac to be applied is important as well as knowing the dry re-coat times. This is all important when scheduling the project, especially if the client has a tight project window.
